Light and Night

After bright shine comes again the dead of night
But when it is dark enough
You can see the stars twinkling bright

Fire tests gold, suffering tests brave
Occurring of Violent storms
Simply gives way to sunshine and wisdom wave
Poetry, pain, adversity, light, hope, go on, hardship, stars, shine and dark
While facing the darker times
When embracing the hard and pain
Our eyes open, we recognize our primes

Don’t run away from sting and ache
Every path has puddle and power
Every rose has love and pain

When hours ferments into darkest
When there is hardship and sorrows
Remember to go on, as happy moments are closest

Without tasting adversity
We can’t welcome prosperity
Breaking rough cocoon first, flies the beauty

If there was no cold winter
The flowers of spring will never blossom
It is cycle of nature, everything comes in pair

No Magic Wand

Miracle starts to happen when you give as much energy to your dream as you do to your fears. I am sure we all have come across these words or say something very similar to this viewpoint in speeches or books. What is significant is the impression these words are trying to make, which is that the person who dares to believe in dreams is accustomed to meet and create beautiful life. The first stride is towards dreaming well and the other is towards its fulfilment.

We on look such persona today. Making governance more transparent and inclusive is what he and few others dreams of.

Saying It #2

Kindness and politeness will not deliberately move or take measured steps into your vicinity or your territory....It will require your efforts... pull it out from wherever it is residing and push it to become a part of your real life !!

My First Liebster

Firsts are always special. Close to heart and never forgotten. It was 18th November. Cheers to Bhumi of Hey Wait,Listen! She nominated my blog for the Liebster Award. Thank you so much!!! I accept this award with gratefulness and excitement. Lots of love to you. It’s more than just an award for me. Any kind of recognition small or big gives so much happiness and you can’t imagine how much delighted I am with your generosity. It’s strange we don’t know each other and are connected with strings of our writings and jottings.

Pondering at Construction site

I look at the construction site and ponder….

Surrounded by noise of Tractors and Cranes,
Breaking stones, lifting bricks,
Sieving sand, wetting cement,
Under hot screeching sun,
Beating iron rod, trying straightening it,
Working & working, when do they stop?
Take break, sip few drops of water.

Beginning...

Hi Diary,

Here I am writing after days. I wish if you could give me a big hug. Things are no longer normal since morning… the jinx of usual troubling thoughts in my mind and complications of life is broken. Our wedding card, Jaya weds Keshav written with golden emboss, wedding between Jaya, a girl from small town, average looking, extrovert, college lecturer and Keshav  tall, handsome (very very!!), introvert city boy working in private firm. Two opposite people vowed together to be each other’s companion for lifetime…The cacophony of excited relatives, all memories with tiny details still afresh in front of my eyes... How can I forget it?

Saying It #1

At the end of the day, all that matters is what you make or believe to be what you determine. Your deeds may be filled with fault and error, disrespect and dishonesty, but eventually you know inside what was right and what wrong. That then is the best judge and the best guide.

Birthday Gift

Garima blog, visiting temple, gifts, birthdayGauri is a sweet little lovely young girl with dimple chin, chubby cheeks, rosy lips(and yes, teeth within!). She got up very early today despite being a Sunday as it’s her birthday!!! She is turning 9. She knows she would be receiving gifts and will get to eat lots and lots of sweets today. So she quickly took her bath, wore her new dress and was ready looking pretty like a princess. She touched every elder’s feet and took warm healthy blessings. Next she wanted to taste all mouth-watering colourful sweet-smelling sweets, but she knew until she visits temple and does pooja with her mom she can’t even touch them.

I Fear ‘Nothing’

Imagination Garima Malik, Blog, Blogging, Writer, Photography, Quotes, Halloween
Eloping Imagination
Make a cat roar, jump on the clouds, sleep on million candies, own a 'Genie' and keep make wishes, live on trees like nomads, play with unicorns,  live a heroic  life (S for Superman)... Hey! Do you say “Not possible!!”? Then my friend, you have underestimated the power of imagination!!
Yes, it’s one of the most impressive strength of human mind. By annexes of imagination you live your dreams for few seconds… impossible becomes possible in our custard of thoughts…it lifts the wings of hopes and pushes harmless dreams to surface. I just love imagining, or say dreaming, another synonym for imagination… it adds creative blends to day to day life but there is other side of the coin, the other product of imagination “Fear”, not so adorable.

A Healthy Immune India

Kids love to play dirty. They smudge their hands with all sorts of colourful or say grey stuff they eye on, you make a move to stop them and they do it again and again. They like to explore everything in terms of taste, touch and weight. Remember the ‘Boo Boo’ adorable baby (I don’t remember his name, his booing act was sho cute that I refer him that way ;)) from movie ‘Baby’s day out’ who almost explored the whole city on knees and was so happy and lovable all the time. Till the end of film, he was one strong n healthy booming baby…

Dedicated To You Sir… Happy Birthday!

From where should I start and what should I write in your praise for one true legend you are. So enthusiastic and full of life and being one of the busiest actors at the age of 71. I can’t hold myself from wondering, from where do you get so much passion and inspiration? Leaving the age of retirement far behind, it seems you will redefine the age of retirement!! Wait, entertainment industry has no retirement age! Sic!

Teachers Open Doors

When you were kid who opened the world of art and music to you? Who familiarised you with numbers and poems? Who taught you to question and reason out? Well, those were our teachers and from the beginning of time when they were ‘Guru’(s) to the present modern time ‘Miss’  , ‘Ma’am’ and ‘Sir’ the world hasn’t been able to do away with them, as it’s only impossible!!
In the words of William Butler Yeats,
"Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire."

A good teacher educates us through experiences and stories and fables, torches path and enlightens. Such teachers are angles in disguise of parents, friends, brothers, sisters and of course our very own ‘Life’.

I Am the Half Population

I am killed before I could take birth
I am abandoned left to rot after birth
I have been waiting for the same Love
Struggling for all I am worth

Let me come into this world
I have purpose and dream of my own
I promise I will not let you down
I have the right talent, I can make you proud

In name of dowry I am sold
What to wear and hide I am recursively told
Pointing fingers still rest upon me
What have I done wrong, I feel so cold!

I am mistreated, abused every second minute
My face is burnt in the agony of smashed ego
I have 'No' right to say 'No'
I know you can't hear me mourn?

I am affectionate as your mother
I am the praying for your health as wife
I am the half population
I ask for respect and compassion

What If You are Stung by a Bee ?

Recently I  learnt the hard way that the "Sweet" honey collecting bees are dread painful....!!! I was stung badly by this buzzing bee....  I hate you all now :(

Bees and wasps inject venom by stinging.  The stinger is at times left in the skin and then it hurts to the core. Venom causes temporary pain and swelling. Occasionally, victim produces fatal allergic reaction. Info might be useful, though I wish you never encounter or experience such horrific incident!! Trust me!

Symptoms

Ø Pain, redness, itchiness and swelling at the spot.
Ø Indications of severe reaction include:
§  Swelling around eyes and lips
§  Difficulty in breathing or wheezing
§  Abdominal pain
§  Rapid drop in blood pressure(shock)

Do’s

Ø If stinger present at spot, just scrape it out of the skin
Ø Only after 30 min the severity of reaction can be determined, so observe the victim/or yourself for seriousness
Ø Activate emergency medical response
ØApply ammonia to the site if available

Don’ts

Ø Do not remove stinger with plucker or finger nails. This might break stinger, leading to spreading of venom further.

Once Prized, Now Past

Since time immemorial, new inventions have always added more feathers to the man’s creativity hat. From the moment someone bashed a rock on the ground to make the first sharp-edged tool, to the development of Mars rovers and the Internet, several key advancements stand out as particularly revolutionary. With time old inventions get replaced with new ones, so we could embrace a better lifestyle. Below are few such inventions which were once favored that have now disappeared or have become less significant.

Transistor Radio

Those from the 1950s will speak fondly of a world that revolved around this gadget it brought news from corners of the world to door step. Easily available source of information and melody. The device with small knob navigated through frequency chart, is now replaced by smarter and smaller gadgets. Let gone transistor radio, these days listening to radio isn’t preferred. Radio allows a medium of entertainment which permits millions of people to enjoy same joke at same time, yet it remains lonesome (Yea yea.. TV does it too :P) However it will be part of lovely memories for many people.

I have memories with this kind. As a kid when I would visit my Grandparents I would be found impatiently adjusting the knob to catch the frequency with least of hush hosh shush mosquito noise... Guess what? I would end up listening to hush hush noise more than music!!! Sigh!

Roll Films

Remember when photography wasn’t easy, the roll films were pushed forward and more pressure was applied to button to capture precious moments. Roll films were bought one day before festival or family vacation and guarded from excited children so that they didn’t click and finish a roll capable of 30 odd photos. Poses and lights were timed perfect. Rolls were printed and those photos decorated albums and walls. Each photo had different story to tell. (We all know the importance of memories  :P) Now when photography is digitalis-ed, pics are clicked in hundreds and viewed immediately, the importance of clicks has reduced, or increased is still a question ?

Oh My! How many times I have spoiled the rolls due to sunlight exposure? Just once. My family didn't own a camera before the digital world, but yea have used one such kind. I had wasted the complete roll of my neighbour's and later died in embarrassment of spoiling loads of memories of 'them'. So, it was decide cameras were for camera mans or adults. I would rather pose and smile in front of them, until digital world proved to be a boon ;)

Pager

Small portable gadget. Easy to use and flaunt. Their life in market was short lived as when the concept of SMS came they were forgotten and their advertisements were soon replaced by mobile phones.

Did not have the luxury to use these, but yes miss you pagers! Sic!

Telegraph

Its uniqueness was in precise writing and the essential news which it carried. It connected the country for 163 long years. Telegraph offices in big cities were located in beautiful heritage buildings. There were standard greeting telegrams and codes used to convey particular message. The telegram nostalgia will continue gripping those for whom news and message from loved ones came in form of telegram.

For those born in 90's have only done telegram writing to pass in school exams, like me, yayyy :D!! Imagine, if we were leaving in a world where texting would cost based on number of words or rather letters in it, I wonder how many of us would still use Messengers??!! Weird thought right?

Floppy Discs

The slide shows of school project and important browsed files in it, remind of difficult times when data storage and maintenance was not easy. Teachers even taught in schools the ways of adorning house after their failure with wall hangings. The last floppy disk rolled off the presses in 2011 with enough space to hold half a song. It is survived by its offspring, the USB drive.

For some reason floppy discs remind one of assignments in juniors, don’t they? I even remember my primary school computer teacher had made a pen stand out of wasted floppy drives. Creative! I loved pulling the one side of it and admiring it black smooth shine circular thing inside :)! Memories!

Gramophone

Picture a gramophone and you would picture it with black and white background. Thanks to our Indian Cinema which introduced this device to young children who weren’t born in decades ago. Any period film without the glimpse of gramophone is incomplete. It's mere presence vindicates the time-frame of the movies, isn't it? You will find it in almost all the movies of Guru Dutt. Nowadays it decorates the home of antique lovers and museums as now listening to music is possible anywhere and everywhere.

I would love to have a gramophone miniature or antique at one corner of my future home!I have never witnessed these thingies playing music in real though! For the love of music and our history! Peace \/ !!

Typewriters

The punching of keys sound is the signature sound of typewriters, which is somewhat similar to sound of marching soldiers. Now found in few government offices, the tiresome typewriter typing will soon lose its touch with reality with time changing and advancing so fast. But, the QWERTY key pattern will live long!

Oh Yes!! I have had a pleasure of using these, courtesy my Dad's office! The noisy key punches, the slide after hitting each row ! You are not missed!

Cassette Tapes

Cassette tapes remind of the time when knowing the lyrics of song would mean over using those three buttons – Play, Pause, and Rewind. These are even used for making lamp shades or wall hangings creatively as no one plays these any more. Still half of the households have cassettes in their possession which simply tell the love for them.  Giving away the possession which once used to be prized isn’t easy.

I have fond memories, playing these in tape recorders (if I am not wrong) on both sides or ends. Quite an impressive piece of technology of storing music on such fine sheets of plastic . And later after getting wasted, DIY projects for fun and decor! Miss you!
